Sleeping Mat I

I found this mat on ebay and fell in love with the colour (obvs), but also how it resembles terrain. I felt that the condition of the mat represented the journeys that refugees/displaced people have to endure. On another note, it also harks to living conditions of people without homes and again, is a stark way to show what governments deem a suitable item for people to lay their head on.

I once again stole the hostile architecture piece from outside a bank. I liked how visually it looks like tents and waves, to mirror examples of journeys and conditions that are undertaken by people and faced by those who are usually fleeing wars.

At first I hated the logo but eventually began to enjoy how the colour and shape of it resonated with the rest of the sculpture.
